Lielonggou Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Lielonggou to the northeast of the hot spring of the Quesang Temple, Duilongdeqing County, Tibet. It was named by the Comprehensive Reconnaissance Expedition under the Tibetan Geological Bureau in 1979.
Lithology and Thickness
Chert. Grey-white and light-grey medium- and thick-bedded slate with interbeds of tuff and white chert, with its top consisting of a 2 m-thick grey-brown slate, intercalated with tuff. Thickness is about 181 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Uncertain; no base having been found. Next older unit in region is the middle Permian Luobadui Fm
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the strata of the overlying Lower Triassic Chaqupu Gr
Regional extent
Distributed in the Lhasa region. In the Nianniangla-Menba Region, Mozugongka County, Xu Xian et al. (1982) have found that above the Luobadui Fm there occurs a suite of sandy slates, intercalated with a small amount of strata consisting of limestones, with a thickness of several thousands of meters known as the Mengla Gr.
